Blondie by Jesper Ganslandt

Blondie by Jesper Ganslandt
Blondie by Jesper Ganslandt
With his latest film, Jesper Ganslandt consolidates himself as a true auteur. After Farewell Falkenberg, a surprisingly realistic and refined tale of friendship between young men coming out of adolescence and entering adulthood, came The Ape, an intimate, brutal and concise drama which leaves members of the audience breathless as they watch the final hours of a man who fills his loved ones with mortal anxiety. Ganslandt has now changed gears making a comedy, even if it is a bitter-sweet one. His piece of work is a homage to women: a mother with three daughters, constituting four characters who interact with feeling, irony and sometimes even hatred. His insight into the female universe and the love he has for it reminds me of Almodovar and Ozon, authors who have never let themselves become predictable. Jesper Ganslandt is the first director to have chosen Venice Days three times, and he has certainly never failed to surprise us. (Sylvain Auzou)
