The BookCiak, azione! award
Cinema and literature are in a common-law marriage, but are still seeking that official recognition. The BookCiak, azione! award is seeking to make this intimate relationship as visible, permanent and accessible as possible. Gomorra and Commissario Montalbano are just two examples where film and literature have successfully met.
How will the award work? By inviting filmmakers to dive into three novels we chose from our large online selection (www.bookciak.it) - Vecchi nodi by Matteo Martone, Il riporto by Adrian Bravi and L'aria della Gioconda by Roberto Piumini - which we think contain the biggest Italian film potential. These three novels will be starting points for ‘bookciak movies', an experimental video film project, where the story takes form through suggestive visuals and linguistic contaminations, rather than through a narrative structure. Each entry will be considered to become part of the ebooks' covers.
A prestigious jury made out of Ettore Scola, Citto Maselli, Ugo Gregoretti, Gianluca Arcopinto and Daniela Di Sora fromVoland publishing house will be in charge of selection. Svolte has offered an exciting contribution to the Bookciak, azione! event, with Elisabetta Pandimiglio, Cesar Meneghetti and Fabio Rosi ‘reading' the three novels with the sheer emotion of their eyes. Bookciak.it was conceived by the Associazione Calipso, and was born in September 2011 as a result of a special Mibac project, done with the support of Anac, Apt, Anica, Solinas and Indicinema.
