Thanks to the collaboration of the Xinhua News Agency and the organization of the event by InThinker Studio, Venice Days is once again sponsoring the China Film Forum, devoted to The Reasons For Creativity, which will be held on September 5-6 at the Villa degli Autori and the Hotel Excelsior venue Spazio Ente dello Spettacolo, with the support of ANICA and the Ente dello Spettacolo.
The two-day forum kicks off on the evening of September 5, with a "Panda Party" at the Villa degli Autori, and continues on Sunday morning, September 6, with a conference at the Spazio Ente dello Spettacolo from 9:30 to 12:30.
It's an occasion for filmmakers and the Chinese film institutions to compare notes and get a clearer picture of the evolution and internationalization of a giant of the global audiovisual market, as China is today, in light of future collaborations between China and the European audiovisual industry, and Italy's in particular.
The Forum will be focusing on stories, the comparison of the two cultures' different artistic approaches, and the potential inherent in a fertile exchange between creators and artists, which explains the presence of a filmmaker such as Maurizio Sciarra, the Italian moderator of the Forum.
During the conference the theme of historical memory will be addressed via a discussion about a Chinese blockbuster currently in the works, Forgotten War. Produced by Han Yi, the film will look at China's role in the Second World War.
And the "cinema of the real" will also be given its due thanks to a fruitful collaboration between Italy and China, launched for the next edition of the Documentary Film Festival in Guangzhou, with the collaboration of Doc/it, at which Italian documentaries will be the guests of honor.
