Stories We Tell by Sarah Polley

Stories We Tell by Sarah Polley
The mind is paradoxical. It is almost always paroxysmal, and even sometimes parodic. This is Sarah Polley's starting point. Up until now, she has been a refined narrator of love stories in which the memory of something that has happened, suddenly penetrates the intimate sphere, be it an illness (Away From Her) or a broken passion (Take This Waltz). Here, the young filmmaker is not just an observer, but also an investigator. She discovers that truth and memory are not absolutes, but instead they are multi-faceted and subjective, especially when a talented storyteller is at hand. Sarah Polley, as usual, is unforgiving, deep, tender, witty and different. She glues her characters to herself and forces them into what they desire, finally liberating them without giving into them. (Boris Sollazzo)
