Venice meets Cannes
On June 14, at 10am, the French Academy in Rome - Villa Medici will host a meeting on the role and identity of parallel sections of Festivals. Participants inlcude Edouard Waintrop, head of the Directors´ Fortnight, Charles Tesson, head of Critics´ Week, and Giorgio Gosetti, head of the Venice Days. Fabio Ferzetti, who has been head of the Venice Days three times running, will be moderating.
The meeting is organised by the French Academy in Rome - Villa Medici, in collaboration with Istituto Luce Cinecittà, Roberto Cicutto, the SNCGI (National Union of Italian Film Journalists), Laura delli Colli, and in partnership with the Venice Days, promoted by Anac and 100 Autori, to promote independent cinema in an important synergy to consolidate the discussions already underway at the Cannes Film Festival with industry experts, representatives from film associations and movements on the theme of film promotion.
The following day, on Friday June 15 at 7pm, Cannes´ Cinéfondation will be the star of the Villa Medici with a screening of the films awarded. Each year the selection counts around fifteen works from film schools around the world. On the occasion of Cinéfondation´s twentieth anniversary, its director Georges Goldenstern, will be at the Villa Medici to meet students from Rome´s film schools and to showcase the various projects and the Paris base for film-makers who fulfil Cinéfondation´s important mission.
